Given the folklore surrounding boat names, people are often hesitant to rename a boat when buying used. This leaves two options. Either buy new so you can name it whatever you want or hold a renaming ceremony to release the old name. When picking a new name, here are five categories to consider.
1. Puns
A punny boat name will always be a crowd pleaser. A pontoon named 'Tooning Around or a ski boat named Pier Pressure are great options. Or maybe you need some more Vitamin Sea in your life?
2. Nautical
Nautical names are always a good fit. Seas The Day or A Boat Time make for fun names for almost every boat. Using knot is also fun. Knot So Fast Or Knot So Little are good examples.
3. Memorial
Our boat is named after my mom, who never got to see it but would have loved it. It always brings a smile to my face. Using your boat as a floating memorial is a beautiful tribute.
4. Serious
Sometimes it's more fitting to pick a name that's truthful and to the point. Out To Sea or Fairweather Fan are solid boat names that reflect a more serious tone.
5. Romantic
This advice probably isn't for anyone in the casual dating mode. But wouldn't it be a sweet gesture to name your boat after your significant other? It might make any monetary investment in your boat a little bit easier to make when it's named after the person you love the most.
